Hop Yard to Falls Lake Dam

Begin your ebike ride in the Falls River Complex located in North Raleigh NC with lunch from several sandwich shops or pack a picnic for a fun ride to Falls Dam. Follow the bike lanes to the beginning of the Abbotts Creek Trail.  This is a beautiful paved greenway with a canopy of trees, multiple bridges, bird watching areas and marshes before you approach the Falls River Trail. Spring air brings smells of honeysuckle and flowers blooming. Streams have water flowing over rocks. Look for birds, squirrels or deer rustling around the woods. At the end of Abbotts Creek Trail turn left and follow the Neuse River Trail to the Falls Lake Dam. During warm weather you’ll see canoes, kayaks or tubers going down the Neuse River. Most any day you will see families fishing along the river or in the lake. At the bottom of the dam, take the gravel road to the top where you’ll see Falls Lake, a fishing dock, picnic tables and a visitors center. Once you have taken in all the sites, head back down the trail for your return trip. After a fun afternoon, it’s time to chill and treat yourself to a nice cold brew  from the area’s favorite bottle shop, Hop Yard.
